The death
came to Strickland with the name of leprosy. After the news of his infection he
wanted to go deeper to the jungle of Tahiti, but Ata didn’t want to let him go.
They just continued to live as a couple, with the full isolation from the
society and local people. Even after the blindness, which was caused by the
final stage of his leprosy? Nevertheless, he had continued his working
progress, painting and writing on the walls of his house. Only the doctor of Strickland,
who actually came to that place too late (Charles was already dead) could see
this on - wall painting. And he was extremely devastated by this work – so miraculous
and marvelous was this painting, full of world’s grace and sense of whole
humanity – the work of the man, who could transform the thought of the Universe
to the Art Form and did it with such greatness and blessing light. Charles
could escape from the prison of this damned creature, which gave him this bless
and this curse, but his last words were connected with his final wish- to burn
this house and Ata couldn’t disagree with her husband. After the return back to
London the narrator decided to visit Miss Strickland. She was in a good material status, after the
death of her sister and forgot about previous years of life in the house, which
was full of her husband’s paintings. During the conversation with her, the
narrator remember young son of Ata and James – and maybe the spirit of a
furious genius of his father and the splendid pure calmness of his mother would
reunite in this boy and the story about another Master would be risen Who
knows.
